Things to See and Do

To get to the beach you simply take about 65 steps from the Palana Beach House gate and your toes are on the sand. You are likely to find that most time, it's all yours! Several kilometres of near private beach, even during the “busy” times. Around Palana there are a range of short drives that take you to beautiful little semi private beaches. www.visitflindersisland.com.au has a range of activities and good information on the variety of drives, hikes and related activities on the Island.

There are numerous walking tracks around Flinders, all featured in a book at Palana Beach House. One starts right at the gate. Once booked we will send our info pack, this details a range of activities available both on the Island and near  Palana Beach House.

The north end of Flinders Island is renowned for fishing. Or if you like, you can buy a cray fish from the locals. The beach area out front is where the crays are!   Fishing from the beach below Palana Beach House has resulted in many guests catching a tasty dinner! The North East River (10 mins drive) is also another wonderful inlet and headland to wander around and fossick for sea shells or simply catch a salmon at the turn of the tide.
